At Quest, we believe everyone deserves access to healthy, affordable food, regardless of their financial circumstances. Through our non-profit grocery markets, we provide a different approach to addressing food insecurity—one that combines affordable groceries with dignity, choice and independence.
We recover quality surplus food that might otherwise go to waste and make it available at significantly reduced prices to individuals and families facing economic barriers.
By connecting food recovery with affordable grocery shopping, Quest helps people put good food on their tables while building a more sustainable food system.
Food banks provide essential emergency food assistance. Quest complements these services by offering something different: an ongoing, affordable grocery shopping experience.
Our non-profit markets look and operate much like traditional grocery stores. Clients browse the shelves, choose the groceries that meet their needs and purchase them at significantly reduced prices.
This approach gives people greater control over their food choices, allowing them to shop according to their household needs, cultural preferences, dietary requirements and budgets.
Behind every Quest Market is an extensive network of food
donors, community partners, staff and volunteers working together to make affordable groceries possible.
While most of the food on Quest’s shelves is donated, making that food available comes with significant operating costs.
Transportation, warehouse operations, refrigeration, food handling, repackaging, distribution and market operations all require resources. By selling groceries at significantly reduced prices, Quest recovers a portion of these costs while giving clients the opportunity to participate in a familiar shopping experience.
Revenue generated through grocery sales goes directly back into supporting our operations and mission.
Financial donations and community partnerships help cover the remaining costs, allowing us to continue providing affordable groceries while keeping good food from going to waste.
