#12DaysOfQuest: Day 3

From COVID-19, to inflation, to Climate Change impact and food supply disruption, this year is closing on a challenging note for folks and families who face food-insecurity.

Starting November 30th until December 11th, follow us at @QuestFoodExchange and be part of #12DaysofQuest as we move through 12 food groups we’re hoping to secure, month-to-month, across Quest grocery markets in 2022. Today’s feature food is:

BUTTER & MARGARINE

Butter and margarine are among the most fundamental products in the kitchen. Not only do they serve as texture and flavour enhancers, but they’re highly versatile ingredients when it comes to cooking. Butter is one of the most complex of all dietary fats, containing more than 400 different fatty acids. It’s also a rich source of several vitamins including Vitamin A, Vitamin D and Vitamin E (which is a powerful antioxidant). From baking, pan-frying, sauce-making, to sautéing foods, butter is a staple both in client kitchens and on Quest shelves.

The main difference between butter and margarine? Butter is made mainly from heavy cream and contains higher saturated fat levels. Margarine is made from vegetable oil and contains unsaturated fat.

At Quest, we empower our clients by giving them the power to make their own dietary choices. That’s why we want to make sure that all five of our markets are stocked with both as we understand the key role both of these items play in our client’s daily cooking.

The Quest Difference

The cost of dairy products, including butter, is expected to increase anywhere between 8 to 12% by February 2022 across Canada. Thanks to our Food Partners, Quest is able to sell both butter and margarine for $2 each. We’re working towards keeping these prices stable as we move into the new year regardless of expected price increases.

Help ensure Quest Clients have access to butter and margarine, and other critical grocery items 12 months of the year. Donate to Quest today! And stay tuned for Day 4 of #12DaysofQuest when we plan to get a little cheesy!

4 Ways You Can Help Quest Support Client Communities in 2022

  1. Become a monthly donor and help ensure these items are on market shelves 12 months of the year. Monthly donations are directed within the organization to where they will make the most impact. Become a Quest monthly donor today.

  1. Make a One-Time Year-End donation to Quest and help ensure our client communities have regular market access to grocery staples like produce, protein, and dairy every single day. Donations of $10 or greater are eligible for a charitable tax receipt. Donate today.

  1. Did you know you can donate to Quest in honour or memory of a family member or friend? Simply click on the option “in memory of” or “in honour of” and an electronic card will be sent celebrating this gift which will be directed to where the organization and Quest client communities need it most. Create your gift.

  1. Give the Year-End Gift of Securities to Quest. Direct securities’ donations eliminate the capital gains tax, allowing you to donate more. You will quickly receive a charitable tax receipt for the market value on the date the security gift is received. More impact and greater benefit means more people have access to healthy and affordable food. Give the gift of a securities’ donation today
