Position: Driver/Warehouse Associate

Job Summary

The Driver/Warehouse associate will be driving a variety of vehicles from a Connect to a 5 Ton truck. This job entails picking up donations from our many food suppliers as well as dropping off food to various social services agencies. When not driving, they will be helping out in the Distribution Centre.

Reports To: Distribution Center Supervisor

Functional Relationships: Distribution Centre Supervisor, DC Administrative Assistant, QC, Area Manager, Market Managers and Supervisors

Duties and Responsibilities:

Donation Pickups & Deliveries

  • Plans and carries out food pickups and deliveries in the most efficient and cost effective manner
  • Accepts messages throughout work hours regarding additional pickups and deliveries and incorporates these into their schedule
  • Ensures recurring or routine orders are picked up and delivered regularly and within acceptable time frames
  • Ensures products are safely loaded and unloaded at destination points
  • Ensures vehicles are driven in a safe manner and in compliance with the Motor Vehicle Act. (E.g. wearing seat belts, obeying speed limits, no alcohol or drug use, etc.)
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked and stored at the Quest facility after hours
  • Ensures all vehicle keys and radios are left at the Distribution Center at the end of the work day
  • Interacts with customers and donors in a courteous and professional manner
  • Be aware that all bulk order sales are sold to Quest registered SSA’s.

Vehicle Maintenance

  • Keep fuel at adequate levels and fuels up at authorized gas stations as required.
  • Conducts a vehicle safety check prior to use each day
  • Checks oil and other fluid levels regularly
  • Checks tires for damage or excessive wear and reports it to the Distribution Center Supervisor
  • Informs Distribution Center Supervisor of any maintenance problems with the vehicle
  • Responsible for keeping interior and exterior of the vehicle clean at all times

Distribution Center Operation & Product Management

  • Ensures products are safely loaded and unloaded at the Quest Distribution Center
  • Ensures products are stored in a safe and efficient manner
  • Works in the Distribution Center as required and directed by the Distribution Center Supervisor
  • Ensures Distribution Center Volunteers are working in a safe and productive manner
  • Inventories product received in the Distribution Center according to Quests’ inventory management system

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Completion of secondary school may be required
  • Several years’ experience driving 3 and 5 ton trucks
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license & a satisfactory ICBC Driver’s Abstract
  • Familiarity with the Lower Mainland streets
  • Ability to operate Distribution Center related equipment
  • Physical ability to carry out duties of job. Must be able to sit for long periods of time and lift up to 50lbs. per carton and 2,000 lbs. per pallet.
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Effective interpersonal skills and good communication skills, both oral and written
  • On-the-job training and certification is provided in safe food handling and utilizing pallet jacks and other equipment


Summary: The Warehouse Associate reports to the Logistics and Distribution Centre Manager in all aspects of warehouse operations.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $12.65 /hour

Location: Surrey

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensures products are safely loaded and unloaded.
  • Able to lift heavy objects repeatedly – 25 lbs.
  • Sorting various items.
  • Building pallets to send out to different locations
  • Ensures products are stored in a safe and efficient manner
  • Compliant with security procedures and health & safety.


  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to follow in instructions
  • Previous warehouse experience


  • 0-1 year experience as a Warehouse Associate
  • Pallet Jack Certification will be an asset
  • Food Safe Certificate Level 1 will be an asset
  • Standard First Aid will be an asset
