Privacy Policy

Policy Statement

The Personal Information Protection Act (“PIPA”) governs the way private sector organizations in British Columbia collect, use, disclose and secure personal information. Quest Outreach Society (“Quest”) is committed to ensuring that it collects, uses, discloses and secures personal information in accordance with the requirements set out in the PIPA.

All employees of Quest are expected to ensure that personal information in Quest’s custody or control is handled in accordance with this Policy.


This Policy outlines in general terms the principles Quest applies in protecting the personal information of current, past and prospective clients, volunteers, donors, members and vendors within our custody or control. Personal Information

Personal information means information about an identifiable individual, but does not include business contact information such as the name, position, business telephone, e-mail, and fax numbers of an individual.

We collect personal information for the following purposes:

  • To verify clients’ need for our services
  • To screen, assess and contact volunteers
  • To communicate with vendors about food donations and to solicit referrals
  • To communicate with financial donors about past, present and future donations and to pr150ocess donations received
  • To enrol and communicate with members of the Society

We limit the collection of personal information to that which is necessary for identified purposes and as permitted by law.

We do not use or disclose personal information for purposes other than those for which it was collected, except with the consent of the individual or as required or permitted by law.


We recognize Quest’s obligation to protect personal information in its custody or control by establishing security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. These may include taking appropriate and reasonable steps on a technological, contractual, administrative or physical security basis to protect personal information against risks such as loss or theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, modification or destruction.


We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the fulfilment of the purposes for which it was collected, or as required or permitted by law.

Accuracy, Access and Questions

We take steps to ensure that personal information is as accurate, complete and up-to-date as necessary for the purposes for which it is used.

The Act permits individuals to access their personal information under our custody or control, as well as information on how their personal information is being used or disclosed by us, including the names of the individuals and organizations to whom their personal information under our custody or control has been disclosed by us. We will respond to all such requests in compliance with the PIPA.

The PIPA permits individuals to request correction of errors or omissions in their personal information in our custody or control. Quest will respond to all such requests in compliance with the PIPA.
